Hard Seasons
Written for the person who is in it: anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, the wish to die, and the silence of God.

Anxiety is a heavy load, and the real battle under it is trust. God tells you not to carry it and invites you to bring Him every fear, again and again, one day at a time, with His Word, His people beside you, and a doctor or counselor when you need one.
Depression does not make you a bad Christian and does not mean God has left you. He met Elijah with sleep, food, and a still small voice, and then He sent him on. In the dark the battle is hope, and He offers you His presence, His Word, His people, and help for your body and soul.
Grief is not a lack of faith. Christians sorrow, and they sorrow with hope, and God stays near to the brokenhearted for as long as it takes.
If you are in danger or thinking about ending your life, please stop reading and get help. In the United States, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, at any hour, or call 911. If you are outside the United States, call your local emergency number or a local crisis line. Tell your pastor, a friend, or a doctor now. You are not alone.
Addiction is sin, and sin is what Christ came for. He welcomes you before recovery and not after it. He died for this, He breaks its rule, and He calls you to turn from it today, with His people, and often a doctor, beside you.
When prayer seems to stop at the ceiling, God has not left. He hears, He holds His own, and He has already spoken in His Son, so you may tell Him the truth, keep walking, and wait.
