When Science Becomes a God, It Stops Being Science
Many people today assume that science and God are rivals: the more we learn about nature, the less room is left for its Maker. This study argues the opposite. Science is a good gift from God. What threatens faith is not science but a philosophy that often travels with it and claims to speak in its name.
Knowledge can feed pride. This study is not about sounding clever or winning debates with scientists. The goal is that you would know what you believe and why, so that you can speak the truth in love with a settled heart, and point people to Jesus rather than to yourself.
The worldview that reality consists only of the natural world, and that everything can ultimately be explained by physical processes without reference to God or the supernatural. It assumes from the outset that miracles cannot occur.
The belief that matter and energy are all that exist, and that everything, including mind, morality, and meaning, can be reduced to physical causes studied by science. It turns the scientific method into a rule for all truth, though that rule cannot itself be proven by science.
Neither can be the whole story. Scripture teaches that Jesus created and sustains all things, and that what is seen came from what is unseen at God's command (Colossians 1:16–17, Hebrews 11:3). This study will show that this is not a retreat from reason. It is the foundation that makes reason and science possible.
