Romans 6: Dead to Sin, Alive to God

Grace never makes sin safe: every believer has been joined to Christ in His death and resurrection, which baptism pictures, so he reckons himself dead to sin and alive to God, yields himself to God as a servant of righteousness, and knows that sin pays death while God gives eternal life.

The lesson walks through the topic one card at a time. The full study is the complete written article, with its sources.

What you'll learn
1

Explain Paul's answer to “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” from the believer's union with Christ.

2

Show what Romans 6:3-5 teaches about baptism: it pictures union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, and it does not save; and state the sacramental and Spirit-baptism readings fairly.

3

Define the old man, the body of sin, reckon, and yield, and explain why the believer still fights the flesh.

4

Contrast the wages of sin with the gift of God, and explain why a servant of righteousness is secure.
