Prolegomena
Before we study what Scripture teaches, we ask what theology is, where it gets its authority, and how Scripture distinguishes the Gospel that saves, the whole counsel of God that disciples obey, and the matters God leaves to conscience.
Recommended Order
Study in any order. This path builds each topic on the one before it.
Theology is the study of God as He has revealed Himself in Scripture, pursued so that we may know, worship, and obey Him.
No biblical doctrine is unimportant. Scripture distinguishes the Gospel that must be believed to be saved, the whole counsel of God that disciples must believe and obey, and the matters where God grants liberty.
How we move from individual texts to whole-Bible conclusions: reading each passage literally in its grammatical and historical context, letting Scripture interpret Scripture, rightly dividing the Word, and staying humble before what God has revealed.
