Before we study what Scripture teaches, we ask what theology is, where it gets its authority, and how Scripture distinguishes the Gospel that saves, the whole counsel of God that disciples obey, and the matters God leaves to conscience.
The Holy Spirit is a divine person, not an impersonal force. He convicts, regenerates, indwells, seals, and empowers believers through the Word He inspired.
God made man in His own image, male and female. Anthropology studies human nature, the image of God, and the genuine responsibility of every person before Him.
Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Soteriology studies God's saving purpose, the Gospel call, repentance and faith, justification, regeneration, adoption, sanctification, and the security of the believer.
Christ builds His church, and His churches have never ceased from the earth. Ecclesiology studies the local church, its perpetuity, believer's baptism by immersion, the Lord's Supper, church government, and the priesthood of believers.
Christ is coming again. Eschatology studies the rapture of the church, the tribulation, Christ's millennial reign, the final judgment, and the eternal state.
